Cappadocia
This is my second time in Cappadocia and after my first time here I was sure that I will be visiting here again. This city took my heart away with its wonders, beauty, history and of course, I need to mention the locals that became my friends after my visit.
Cappadocia is most famous for its cave hotels and roof terraces. Instagram is filled with photos from the morning 5 am fleet of hot air balloons.
Last time I was here I lived in three different hotels but one was past the others and I wanted to come back here at Salkim Cave House.
Background from the hotel
One of the ladies here is from Cappadocia, but she moved away to another area and life took its course. Later after she had divorced she bought a summer flat from here at Cappadocia and every time she visited she was thinking to have a hotel business. Finally, she started building a hotel with the help of her daughter and son. It took two years with the project and now the hotel has been running for two years with the strength of four women.
Women Power
I am pretty sure that one of the reasons that this hotel has so wonderful feeling is this women energy. Everything is made by themselves. They fix the showers, door handles, clocked sinks and they even built the roof terrace. They could use some manly power for the heavy things though. But they manage on their own.
They say, that they don’t want to be a hotel but more like a home for everyone. They never say that they have customers, everyone is a visitor. They want Salkim Cave House to be more home-like, for example, if you are hungry, you can just go to the kitchen or you can get water just by asking. Everything is not about money.
The Breakfast
People have also asked for the breakfast buffet, but they will never have that in the hotel. They are following the traditional “mom made” Turkish breakfast which is served personally to each and every one.
Breakfast, in my opinion, is one of the hotels main treat. Its always fresh and you have a lot of difference and quality on it. There’s a lot to eat. Breakfast is served 9-11am and it’s a perfect time, if you are returning from the hot air balloon tour or if you just want to sleep late.
Rooms
In the hotel, you have 7 different rooms and sizes, from two persons to the 5 person rooms. Rooms are really quiet and chill. Perfect sleep is guaranteed by the cave-like atmosphere, where the sun can nearly reach from the tiny windows.
The hotel that is run by these four ladies is glooming the warmth, specific details and also love for the thing they do. Feeling here is careless. Even though the hot air balloon tours are the main attraction in Cappadocia and most definitely worth of flying, just to watch them from the terrace of Salkim Cave is an amazing experience.
Things to do
These ladies are recommending you to explore the city as well the history and atmosphere. This is magical!!!
Here is a list of the cool things you can do after the hot air balloon tour or after the magical mornings.
1.Pasabag
2. Underground city özkonak
3. Kizilcukur sunset time
I do recommend with big heart Salkim Cave House, the only downside is that you will most definitely keep coming back here.
I wish you would be here so maybe someday…
